Best-Selling Comic Chonda Pierce Emerges From Quarantine "Un-Masked" -- And Funnier Than E
NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Best-selling female comedian Chonda Pierce today announced her comedy tour "Chonda Pierce Live" will resume at Dominion Valley Park in Stuart, VA, October 2 —after being interrupted in March at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
Befitting only the recognized “Queen of Clean,” Pierce will bring her signature timing and home-spun laughs in two formats this fall, adding in select cities a new drive-in theater show at dusk to her award-winning standup concert tour. For tour dates, times, and other details, including social distancing guidelines, visit Chonda.org.
““For a comedian, timing is everything, and I am so excited the time has finally come for me to hit the road, return to doing what I love and to again see the beautiful faces of all my amazing fans—well at least those parts visible from six feet away and not covered by a surgical mask,” Pierce quipped about the new normal ushered in by COVID-19.
Though Pierce has been quarantined and taking safety precautions like the rest of the world, she has also been keeping her audiences laughing by doing comedy on social media from home as a Quarantined Comic.
“Mandated social-distancing, lockdowns and other life-altering changes caused by the coronavirus have folks stressed, depressed, and struggling with faith in God. People could use some laughs and I am one of those people,” Pierce said.
This fall, Chonda is all the way live debuting new material from her inimitable life, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, “that’s better than fiction.” She will share her stories, experiences and testimonies that will make audiences laugh, while feeling right at home.
After a five-month delay, Chonda eagerly anticipates appearing live on stage—indoors and outdoors--during more than 15 tour dates. The Chonda Pierce Live tour will visit Stuart, VA, Oct. 2 & 3; Monroe, LA, Oct. 15 & 18; Austin, TX, Oct. 16 & 17; Lewisburg, TN, Oct. 28; Watertown, TN, Oct. 29; Guin, AL, Oct. 30; Camden, TN, Nov. 5; Cadet, MO, Nov. 6; Carthage, MO, Nov 7; Mountain View, AR, Nov. 8; Jesup, GA, Nov. 12; Lakeland FL, Nov. 13; Dade City, FL, Nov. 14, and Ocala, FL, Nov. 15.
“I love my job and I love the people that show up at my job,” Pierce says. “But lately we have navigated through personal pain, tragedy, grief and depression together. This time around, I’m feeling stronger. I can breathe again and laugh harder! And oh, what fun we are about to have!”
For three decades, Chonda has entertained millions of fans in arenas to more intimate settings with her unique brand of heartwarming stand-up comedy--always sharing tales rooted in her southern upbringing.
The Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) best-selling female comedian of all time, Pierce has six Platinum DVDs, three Gold DVDs and five Daytime Emmy® Award nominations to her credit and has been ranked among Pollstar’s top-selling live performers.
In 2019, Chonda released “Unashamed,” her largest documentary film project to date, showing on more than 1,000 U.S. screens. Chonda’s third documentary captures her personal triumphs that she shared in her 2017 documentary “Enough.” In ‘Unashamed,” Chonda interviews both well-known and little-known Christians on their commitment to stand for Christ amid cultural backlash.
In 2018, the premier of her second Fathom Events/Fuseic Entertainment one-night documentary, “Chonda Pierce: Enough,” garnered the highest per screen average of all nationwide theatrical releases that day. The film’s debut and encore presentations were viewed on a combined total of more than 1,500 screens around the country. “Enough” follows Pierce’s 2015 award-winning documentary, “Laughing in the Dark,” which chronicled her life in the wake of her husband’s death.
