NASHVILLE, Tenn. — “‘Woman’ was Jesus’ first word after His resurrection.” That often-overlooked detail sets the tone for “Esteemed: God and His View of Women," a new book by veteran Bible teacher and researcher Jamie Hulker, which reexamines Scripture to reveal the dignity, trust, and influence God consistently entrusted to women—roles many have minimized, sidelined, or ignored. Listen to the brief book trailer here.
“I talk with a lot of women who are leaving the church—or worse, walking away from God—because they believe the Bible and the God of the Bible don’t value women,” Hulker said. “If that’s you, I’m truly sorry. But sometimes the place where harm began can also become the place where healing starts.”
Designed as an eight-week Bible study with companion teaching videos, Esteemed brings women of Scripture out of the margins and places them alongside other heroes of the faith at pivotal moments in redemptive history—from Creation and the Abrahamic covenant to Exodus, the Judges, the Kings, and throughout Jesus' earthly ministry into the early church.
“Scripture is filled with courageous, faithful women who were central to God’s purposes,” Hulker said. “Men, women, boys, and girls need these godly role models—but they haven’t always been given their due.”
Hulker is the founder of Here For You, a nondenominational ministry that equips believers to engage in meaningful, Christ-centered service. She holds a master’s degree in Ministry from Moody Theological Seminary and has traveled to 35 countries across six continents sharing the gospel and training disciples.
Jamie and her husband, Bryan, live in Franklin, Tennessee, where they enjoy life with their adult children, granddaughters, and two energetic dogs.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
“Jamie's investigation into the role key women play in the journey with God's people is compelling and crisp, and it will make you think. Her invitational style is magnetic, and you will want to read ahead to see how each woman appears with impact and influence. This study is riveting and worth your lingering prayerful time before the Father, who loves women and has elevated their value from creation to the incarnation.”
-Ken Nabi, regional president of Converge Great Lakes
“It's been a privilege to pray for and see this Bible study come together in print. Esteemed: God and His View of Women is a study that reflects Jamie's heart and her passion for both the Scriptures and for how God views and values the contributions of women... By pondering the questions provided in this study, your attention is drawn to the significant part that each woman plays in God's redemptive plan. As you spend time reading and reflecting on their lives, you might find yourself more curious about your own story and how God might want to use your "esteemed" life in the lives of others for His glory! A great study!”
-Renee McIntosh, Cru ministry leader (retired), Regional Women's Coordinator for Eastern Europe
